Sewing machine table has upper wall portions defining a recess through which the machine may be pivoted downwardly into the table interior, in which the pivotable plate a buts a stop. Plate has a stop which cooperates with an abutment on the lower face of the wall portion and in that position the machine may be disposed in two positions by means of a toggle linkage and a locking pin. In the first position the machine rests with its support plate adjacent the pivotable plate and in the second position the support plate is aligned with the wall portions. Machine position between the two positions may be adjustable in a stepless manner.
