1505007 Metering anticoagulant supply during blood aspiration SORENSON RESEARCH CO INC 25 Feb 1976 [3 March 1975] 07429/76 Heading A5R A blood aspiration wand has a perforated tip 18 through which blood is sucked via baffles 17 into a mixing chamber 16 to which negative pressure is applied via a line 11, anticoagulant from a conduit 70 passing into the chamber via a line 24 and port 22 when negative pressure acts from a passageway 19 on a membrane 40 of a metering valve 32 to move the membrane away from a port 48, the metering being dependent on the value of the negative pressure. The membrane has a skirt 50 which engages in a cut-out 36 of a seat 34 in which the port 48 and bores 44, 46 communicating with line 24 and conduit 70 are formed. In a modification the centre of the membrane is recessed. The negative pressure may be controlled by a port 30.
