1509867 Stacking flat articles A PARVEAU and L PARVEAU 17 June 1976 [23 June 1975] 25102/76 Heading B8R A stacking machine comprises two structures 1, 2 adjustable towards and away from each other along a rail 6, Figs. 1 and 2, each comprising a pair of chains 12 carrying a plurality of support assemblies 11, each having a pivoted support arm 21 for a plurality of boards 3. A pair of support assemblies are held in the loading position 11a while a plurality of boards are loaded laterally on to the support arms 21 by conveyers 15, 16 until the end board 3a actuates a switch 17 to release a holding arm 19 from each support assembly, whereupon the chains move the assemblies down one step to bring the next pair into the loading position. When loaded assemblies stack the top of a stack 22, the arms are forced back to position 21a to release their load on to the stack, the arms returning to position 21c under gravity as they start their next downward run.
