1510923 Water supply H U KLEIN 14 June 1976 [1 July 1975 8 March 1976] 24570/76 Heading E1X [Also in Division B7] Water is supplied to a water-deficient area by simultaneously transporting and treating untreated water taken up by a water transport ship, and discharging the treated water in the water-deficient area. The untreated water is taken up by the ship from a "river either directly or indirectly, e.g. from a smaller ship or from hoses connected to an inlet structure in the river, storage containers, or a barge having immersion pumps. The treated water is delivered to the water-deficient area either directly through hoses and/or pipelines or indirectly via a water storage ship. The treated water in the water storage ship may be pumped back to the water transport ship for further treatment after which it is returned to another tank in the water storage ship. The water treatments described are known methods of filtering and adding flocculating agents, disinfecting agents and/or pulverized charcoal.
