1523712 Pemanent magnetic material BBC BROWN BOVERI & CO Ltd 31 Oct 1975 [18 Dec 1974] 49369/77 Divided out of 1523460 Heading C7A A permanent magnetic material is produced by induction melting Sm, Co and Cu of high purity in argon, casting and then annealing at 1150- 1250‹C for 1 hour and rapidly cooling e.g. in liquid argon or liquid nitrogen. A second anneal at 750-850‹C for about 1 hour in argon or in vacuum gives improved magnetic properties. Magnets are made by grinding the alloy to powder, orienting, press moulding and sintering.
