APPARTUS FOR WORKING COMPLEX ARTICLE REQUIRING DIFFICULT MILLING AND EASY DRILLING

A machining installation, for machining complex workpieces which require both heavy and light machining operations such as milling and drilling respectively, comprises at least two machining units centrally located for working on a workpiece at a single station, the two machining units being designed to correspond to respectively different operating duties, such as according to cutting efficiency or performance/capacity or power requirement. Preferably the machining units are arranged in a common frame and are individually controlled by micro-processor control mechanisms, the individual control mechanisms being coordinated by a small computer. The mechanism units are arranged to work on the same side or on different sides of the workpiece. The units may be demountable from the frame.
