The deep-water dredger works at depths up to 180 metres, having a two-armed ladder in triangular form, with a system of buffers allowing distortion and thus absorbing movement or shock loads in the athwartships direction. The digger unit is so suspended as to absorb lengthwise movement and shocks, and the ladder is supported at the after end of the dredger, allowing the length of this to be reduced. The dredger is likewise triangular, being constructed of round tubes, an airtight deck and bulkheads below, dividing the space between the underside of the deck and the water into compartments, which can be pumped out to give extra buoyancy. The dredger can be used with a digger wheel, cutter head or bucket excavator.
