The mechanism brings an open sack end over end of a sleeve. It has a support for the sacks and a mechanism reciprocating between the support and the sleeve (9), equipped with spreader fingers (5, 8) movable to and from each other. There can be a pair of fingers movable to and from each other along a straight line and one or more additional ones reciprocating at right angles to them, and which can be brought close to them. The fingers can be mounted on a support plate near an opening in the plate through which the sleeve passes.
