The bottom-dump hopper has sliding doors in the bottom, being partic. for discharging sticky dredged material such as clay etc. Each bottom door or set of doors (5) slides between a sloping wall (4) and a vertical one (8). The vertical wall can form part of a keel (9) running the length of the vessel. The doors can be arranged to slide athwartships, and each sloping wall can form the bottom part of a vertical one (3). The design allows easy dumping of the stickiest material, without bridging taking place.
