1482316 Oxide-coated glass SAINT-GOBAIN INDUSTRIES 30 June 1975 [2 July 1974] 27528/75 Heading C1M In forming a metal oxide coating on a glass surface, by depositing a compound which is thermally decomposable to form the oxide on the heated glass surface, particles (supplied from shoot 3) of the compound are carried by a stream of inert gas (e.g. N 2 from blower 4) into cyclone 5 (via pipe 6), smaller particles being carried in the gas directly to the glass surface (via pipe 8), and larger particles being heated in a further stream (9a) of the gas so as to at least partially vaporize these particles, the vapour produced also being carried by the gas (via pipes 96, 12, 6 and 8) to the glass surface. The larger particles may be heated in a second cyclone 9 (employing heaters 10). Particles not fully vaporized may be collected at 11 before comminution and return to supply hopper 1. The gas supplied to blower 4 may be preheated at 7. The heating of the gas at 7 and of the second cyclone 9 may be controlled in response to temperature measuring devices 14.
