The washer jet for a car headlamps is mounted in an extended upper lip of the car bumper and has a special swirl action which cleans the lenses without any mechanical wiping. The jet outlets provide an atomised spray for improved effect. The distribution of the jet intensity is such that the furthest spaced sections of the lens receive a greater water flow so that the cleaning effect is even over the lens.
