Open end spinning device fed with fibres from opening roll - has deflector surface against which waste is flung from opening roll

A spinning rotor of an open end spinning device is fed with discrete fibres passing through a feed duct connecting with a cavity of a housing in which an opening roller is mounted, the discrete fibres being produced on the periphery of the opening roll by opening a sliver fed to the opening roll. Heavier waste in the sliver is flung from the opening roll against the cavity wall and passes across the mouth of the feed duct and strikes a deflector surface downstream of the feed duct. The deflector surface directs the waste into a waste removal duct through which it is exhausted. Arranging the waste removal duct downstream of the feed duct provides a more compact arrangement. The deflector surface ensures that the waste passes into the waste removal duct and doesn't stay in the cavity in which the opening roller is mounted.
