An endless toothed transmission belt has a tooth pitch P which is greater than the tooth width W which is chosen to lie in the range greater than 0.33 P but less than 0.8 P. The forward and rear flanks of each tooth are arcuate, of radius W, stuck about a pair of centres spaced a distance W apart on the pitch line of the belt. The heads and valleys of the teeth are flat and blended into the flanks of the teeth by small radii. The corresponding driving wheel has rounded grooves for receiving the belt teeth. Each groove is formed by the intersection of two arcs of radius rather greater than W struck as before from spaced centres on the pitch line of the driving wheel.
