Free bearing e.g. a slide, swivel or roller bearing for a converter support trunnion, with an interior ring fixed in position on trunnion, and an element which is axially mobile on rollers situated inside the bearing casing, in which an exterior ring has flattened zones around its periphery facing corresponding grooves in the bearing casing. Rollers cooperating with the flattened zones and acting as roller paths are mounted in the grooves. Provides a bearing which is extremely stable in operation.
