Wine of the sherry-type can be prepd. from must with a considerably reduced maturing time by storing in bottles of plastics matl. which has a permeability to oxygen equal to that of low-density polyethylene with a density of 0.8-1.05 g./cm3 (0.91-0.93 g./cm3). The wall thickness of the bottles is 0.005-6.4 mm. (0.025-1.3 mm.). Prodt. reduces the maturing time from several years, as required in the Solera process, to a few weeks.
