The bank-note issuing machine comprises a cabinet (12) with various shelves (211, 122...12n), wach horizontal and equally spaced from its neighbour. Each of the shelves holds a card (13) which relates to a specific value of the banknote. Each card is divided into two specific zones, the first of which has cut-out zones, which by reflection or transmission, defines specific values, and a complementary second region which gives code values. The equipment also includes a read-out device (21), a buffer store (23) and a delivery unit (24), which supplies notes at a slow rate so that they may be handled by the bank cashier.
