ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREIn the process of colouring an anodized aluminum oraluminum alloy article by subjecting the anodized article toan electrolytic treatment with a direct current in an aqueouselectrolytic colouring bath containing a water-soluble metallicsalt, the oxide film on the article can be easily coloured in astable manner and in a uniform colour, by subjecting the anodizedarticle previously to an anodic direct current electrolysis inan aqueous solution containing the same metallic ion as in thecolouring bath, and then to a cathodic direct current electrolysisfor colouring the anodized oxide film on the article.
