AbstractAn ultra-high pressure water jet control valve device is disclosed comprisinga light-weight poppet valve assemble coupled through a lost-motion connection to aspring-returned hydraulic piston valve actuator aiding in the rapid opening and in theassured closure of the valve. A bias spring placed under compression by the actuatorreturn spring when hydraulic pressure on the piston is released augments the action ofwater pressure on the poppet valve assembly to assure automatic closure of the valve.The lost motion in the actuator connection to the valve incurring bias spring deflectionwhen the poppet is closed provides added assurance against accidental valve opening, suchas under conditions of shock and vibration.
