ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREApparatus for applying droplets of colored liquid to asurface includes a chamber divided into a liquid chamber portionand an air chamber portion. The liquid chamber portion includesan intake channel connected to a liquid supply container and adischarge channel through which the liquid is discharged fordeposition on the surface. A pressure producing means is incontact with the liquid chamber portion to produce periodicpressure increases in the liquid in the chamber portion to ejectit through the discharge channel to the atmosphere in a seriesof droplets. The air chamber portion includes an intake channelconnected to a source of pressurized air and a discharge channelaxially aligned with the discharge channel of the liquid chamberportion to allow the air to be discharged therethrough to theatmosphere at a high speed. The liquid droplets are thus dis-charged through the two axially aligned discharged channels andaccelerated by the stream of air along their passage to the sur-face.
