A process for removing most Hg vapor from the Hg-contg. SO2 gas by adding a suitable amount of H2S during the purification of SO2 was described. In the purification process, the roasting furnace gas went through the hot electric dust collector, humidifying tower, purifying tower, first mist collector, second mist collector, coke filter, drying tower, and catalytic converter in sequence.
