The test procedure (performed by servicing engineers), for the concentrators of a local (rural) exchange coupled to a program-controlled exchange, contains the following steps: - Construction of voice connection using exchange's test program between a voice device common to all concentrator trunk lines and a voice device at the exchange. (The connection is made via the switching matrix and a free trunk line. The connection is then cleared and re-established using the normal program-control. The concentrator tester is then connected to the trunk via the switching matrix. Testing then proceeds in a specified way.
