The display shelving has upright retaining rails with downwardly inclined supports (3) protruding from them to support a transparent plastics backing shelf (4). this forms a broad rear surface (4a) and an angled support face which prevents the magazines, papers etc. from falling down. This L-shaped backing shelf can be made in one pice or as two separate surfaces glued or welded together. Since the displayed article can also be viewed from the rear side the shelf rack can be displayed at any level, even above eye level, without the contents being hidden from view.
