The device is for counting axles on sets of running gear with two or more axles with a short wheel interval, where disturbances leading to inaccuracies normally occur if axles are close together and wheels are small, using an axle counting device activated by the influence of magnetic fields. A track plate is mounted in the track channel between the wheels of two axles in tandem, in such a way that, together with the two successive rims, it influences the counter's magnetic fields only once. The plate may be adjustably mounted on the running gear frame. The two wheels, together with the plate, are registered only as a single disturbance and thus counted as one axle.
