Ski stock with collapsible plastics snow disc - formed with spaced radial reinforcing ribs and joined to boss via flexible hinge portion

The ski-stock (7) has a snow disc (1) attached by a boss (6). The snow disc, has a number of equally radial reinforcing ribs (3) and is joined to the boss (6) by a hinge of flexible plastic film. The area between the ribs (3) has two holes (4) (5) which increase the tangential flexibility. - When the ski-stock is pressed into the snow, the snow disc (1) remains rigid and tends to resist penetration. When the ski-stock is withdrawn from the snow the disc (1) collapses like a folded umbrella by forming radial folds across the holes (4) (5). This design of disc retains its rigidity even when pressed into the snow at an inclined angle.
