Switching elements for a waveguide made with shorting flanges. There are several pins parallel to the E vector which can be used to terminate the waveguide in a short circuit. - The metal pins (10) are fitted through holes in the material of the waveguide (1) and are supported externally on a bridge (9). The bridge has a hole (8) along the longitudinal axis and engages a crank (6) via a crank pin (7). The actuator lever (4) is mounted in a hole (5) so that when actuated the metal pin (10) is pressed against the wall (17) of the waveguide by the action of a spring (12). When in the neutral position the waveguide will be terminated in an open circuit. The ends (15) of the pins will then penetrate the wall (18) of the waveguide by a fraction of a wavelength.
