A sprial wind sifter of air classification machine has a horizontal flat cylindrical sifting chamber and a vertical axis. There are two or more flap rims of varying diameters and openings for the sifted out fractions of the sifted material. The flat rims are positioned co-axial to each other and the openings are located between the individual flap rims. - To reverse the spiral flow either directly or as near as possible behind the appropriate circle of separation (8) the flaps of the successive flap rims (2, 3) are pointed in opposite directions.
