Ski safety binding with pivoted sole plate - has heel and toe clamps on the sole plate and rear and front sole plate holders

The design combines the facility of easy diliberate boot release with reliable retention, and release during a fall in response to excess stresses in any direction. The sole plate (11) pivots about an approximately central axis provided by a ski fixed vertical bearing (12). The plate is fitted with a fixed toe holder and a spring loaded heel clamp with release trigger. The ski is fitted with a spring lock for the forward projecting front edge of the sole plate, opening in an upward direction, and a rear assembly which holds the back of the sole plate. The heel and rear plate holders are coupled and provide matched tensions.
