Parallel alignment of long fabric rolls - for transfer of heavy rolls with axles aligned

Long heavy rolls of fabric, particularly crepe paper are supported on two rollers driven at high speed. The centre of one roller is fixed whereas the other is mounted at the free end of a pivot arm. After rotation at a speed of at least 3m/sec. the roll is discharged by swinging the pivot roller until the gap between the rollers is greater than the diameter of the fabric roll. A valve-cylinder arrangement provides a power drive for adjustment of the pivot roller. The advantage is that the roll is discharged with its axis parallel and aligned ready for the next operation.
