The box, particularly for sweets, has a rectangular, partially pre-glued section of folding material with openings at the sides, and means for the separate airtight sealing of the contents. The upper panel of the box has an opening into which a plastic insert with a peripheral flange is fitted and glued, preferably by heat-sealing. The opening in the insert is closed by a transparent window of plastic sheet, glued or heat-sealed into place. The insert can be glued to the inside and the window to the outside of the top panel, or the window can first be glued to the insert and then the latter glued to the inside of the panel. A tear-open lug can be provided for the window material.
