Pipe connecting union with overthrow nut - has metal clamping ring for connected pipe with stepped axial bore

The pipe connecting union has an overthrow nut which screws onto an adaptor. The thread of the nut terminates in a bore of curved profile. A clamping ring with a profile to match the curved profile fits inside the nut. The bore of the clamping ring is serrated to grip the outside diameter of the pipe and has a recess for a sealing ring. The end face of the clamping ring is provided with serrations which match the serrations in the adaptor. When the overthrough nut is tightened, the serrations prevent the clamp ring rotating with it and thus the seal ring is not damaged.
