The housing encloses the drive mechanism for the clearance-rotors and the two cutter-discs. The drive mechanism may be in the form of chain wheels driven by one chain. An extra tension or guide roller may also be housed in the housing. A fender for any hop-stalks which get in the way is hinged to the front side of the housing and is spring-loaded. The implement runs on a land-wheel situated near the tractor-attachment. The clearance rotors preferably taper towards the ground, have a top and bottom plate joined together by means of bars to form a cage. A central support-tube with flange on top fixes the rotors to the counter flange of the drive shafts. Cutter-discs are detachably fixed to the rotor baseplates, and are positioned in relation to each other that their curved or slightly raised edges overlap each other at different speeds of rotation. The pressure necessary for the overlapping is increased by means of a compression spring.
