Stereo comparator for photographs or distant objects - uses two semitransparent mirrors to superimpose graticules on pictures

The stereo-comparator display generates and manipulates test marks or stereoscopic images which are superposed on stereoscopic pictures produced by any means, especially aerail photographs taken for the production of maps. The simplest form of the comparator has two eyepieces (7,8) and a central dividing shield (9). The comparison marks (3, 4) are affixed to a screen (10) and are viewed directly through semireflecting mirros (5, 6). The stereo pictures (1, 2) are seen by reflection viewing of distant objects and the optical system contains semireflecting mirrors and a pair of comparison marks and may be used as a rangefinder.
