Impact energy absorbing system for commercial vehicles - has loading platform movable forwards or backwards on chassis towards buffers

The loading platform is secured to the chassis members by 'U' bolts to prevent up and down movement and by 'V' shaped side plates to hinder backwards and forwards movement. Friction plates are provided between the loading platform floor and the chassis members. A stop with springs or rubber buffers is fitted to the chassis between the rear of the drivers cab and the loading platform front end. On meeting a frontal resistance, the loading platform will move forwards towards the buffers, deforming the 'V' shaped side plates bolt holes and securing bolts. In the event of a more severe impact the bolts will shear and the platform will strike against the buffer stop.
