Monitoring system for wire drawing dye characteristics - senses drawing speed and die forces in emulsion application area

The system for monitoring of the properties of the drawing dies in the wire drawing machines monitors the geometry and finish of the drawing dies as well as drawing emulsion. The relatively simple and robust arrangement uses wire drawing speed ratios and the drawing force as the main parameters. The arrangement measures wire speed before and after passing through the die for forming the ratio of different speeds. The drawing die is held, together with its holder, in the wetting range for the drawing emulsion. The die holder is coupled to a force measurement transducer.
