Instant food in flake-form is prepd. by moistening an intimate mixt. of (a) starch-contg. roller-dried flakes having instant properties and pref. av. particle size 2-30mm., thickness 0.01-0.2 mm. and bulk wt. 120-180g/l., with (b) powdered food- and/or falvouring materials with water. Powder adheres to the flakes, which retain their flake structure, and is strongly bonded to flakes by subsequent drying. Process is esp. suitable for prepn. of children's food. Process takes place under protective conditions, flakes-structure is not disturbed, unmixing is prevented, food has an attractive appearance.
