So that two foot control switches mounted close together on a machine casing cannot be confused and switched on inadvertently two keys or buttons (4, 5) are provided which engage over and connecte with the switch buttons (2, 3). These keys are swivel mounted on their closely adjoining edges (6, 7) and have along their opposite edges actuating faces (8, 9) the distance between these faces being greater than the distance between the switch buttons (2, 3) so that the correct foot control of the relevant buttons is much easier to achieve. If the trip stroke is too small then at least one of the keys can be associated with a swivel lever (23) the free end of which acts on the switch button.
