The bidet attachment for standard toilets comprises a seat unit (4) to be set on the toilet and a swivel mounted basin unit (6) with water supply. The base (7) of the basin unit (6) is designed as a drainage surface and is provided with a drain opening (19). The water is supplied through a spray nozzle (14) which can be directed into the basin unit (6). This basin - which can swivel up against the seat - allows washing to be undertaken in a flow of water which is not so powerful as to be uncomfortable or cause excessive spray and wetting. The constant flow of water is caused by the downwardly inclined base of the basin, which furthermore ensures that no water remains in the base after use.
