The return legs of the steering column switch are rigid and formed as one piece with the switch unit from thermoplastic material. The release slide guide pin is located between the two legs of a hair pin spring. The hair pin spring is held by two pegs in the housing cover, and the pegs engage in corresponding single coils in the hair pin spring. The spring leg strength is greater than the return force on the release slide finger. The release slide has a widened section at the housing cover end. The widened section has a channel to guide a wire shaped tension spring. The spring ends are supported by pockets in the switch housing.
