The headphones are designed for a flat frequency response from the lowest to the highest frequencies transmitted. The ear pads are supported by thermoplastic supports that have holes in front of and behind the loudspeaker membranes. Each ear piece has a small elastic plate (11) of acoustically transparent material between the loudspeaker (2) and the ear pad (1). The outer edge of the plate is compressed to half the plate's normal thickness so that its acoustic transfer characteristics are altered in this region. The plate is retained in the support (3) by a ring (12) concentric with the membrane (4).
