Pt alloy contains =95 wt.% Pt, made up to 100 wt.% with 3-4.5 wt.% Co, 0.5-2 wt.% Ta and/or 0.5-1.5 wt.% Nb,. The alloy is prepd. by melting the components under a protective gas atmos., casting and annealing the alloy casting at 1000 degrees C. Alloy is used specifically for jewellery, e.g. rings, brooches and pendants. A specific alloy contains 4 wt.% Co and 1 wt.% Ta.
