The heavy duty concrete anchor for mooring buoyant bodies in deep water comprises several blocks pref. of standard shape and size. To maximise resistance to dragging, an appropriate number of the blocks are flexibly coupled, using stainless steel fittings, to lie side by side. To ensure against lifting forces adversely affecting drag resistance, the end block in the chain, to which the line to the buoyant body is connected, is designed to take all the vertical loads. It is built up from stacked standard blocks, or is monolithically cast, so that its weight exceeds the max. calculated upward pull.
