White dental alloy with low gold content - contains silver, palladium and copper and has high corrosion resistance

Dental casting alloy, contg. by wt. 20% gold, 18-22% palladium, 10-14% copper, 0.1-2% indium, 0.05-0.5% iridium and/or ruthenium, and min. 40% silver as the rest. The alloy may also contain 5% max. platinum. The pref. alloy has compsn. (A) 20% Au, 18% Pd, 48.95% Ag, 12% Cu, 0.5% In, 0.5% Pt, 0.05% Ir + Ru. The alloy is pref. melted, cast into a mould and, as soon as it has cooled to 700 degrees C, it is quenched in water together with the mould. Used in crowns, bridges, and other prostheses. Good corrosion resistance, and a fine-grained, homogeneous structure providing good resistance to tarnishing, with good mechanical properties are provided. The alloy has wt. ratio Pd:Au of 0.9-1.1:1.
