Grain prepn. for brewery extraction - by producing semi-finished grist and finish-grinding in brewery before feeding to extraction plant

In the prepn. of grain for the prodn. of a beer brewing extract, the cleaned and husked grain is coarsely ground to a semifinished prod. with a high percentage of extract material and low contents of fibre, ash, fat and protein. This is ground to a size which can be handled by the conveying facilities in a brewery where it is finish-ground and fed to the extraction and filter plant, resulting in a yield of 55-68% for maize, 70-80% for wheel and 65-75% for barley. Process saves the wasted 10-15% of the raw material of the unmalted grain which at present has to be sifted off to enable the brewery conveyors to handle it, and which can only be used for animal fodder.
