Dental alloy used to make crowns or bridges which must blend with porcelain, and contg. by wt. 0.03% max. c; 0.02% max. Mn; 0.5% Fe; 3.7-4.2% Si; 19-20. 5% Cr; 5.5-6.5% Mo; 0.5-1.0% B; 0.2-0.8% Ce; and balance Ni. After baking with porcelain, this alloy pref. has a min. 0.2% proof stress in N/mm2 (PS) of 350; an elongation (d5) at fracture of min. 3.5%; and a hardness (Hv10) of max. 300. The new alloy contains no Be, which is toxic, and forms a light-coloured oxide skin due to the Ce content. The good meltability is due to the presence of B and Ce, and the absence of Al.
