Spinning or twisting whorl bearing - has radial play inducing vibration reduced by stress ring placed over housing carrying roller bearing

Bearing assembly has the sleeve which carries the whorl roller bearing provided on its outer wall with a stress ring which reduces radial play of the bearing. Reduction of the radial play reduces vibration of whorl at the outset of rotation. Specifically the whorl bearing has an outer ring which retains the rollers disposed about the whorl, the ends of the rollers being in turn retained by discs which are kept in axially stressed condition in a bore in the sleeve by a bead. Pref. the outer sleeve wall is conical and the stress ring has a complementary inner wall and axial displacement of the ring stresses the sleeve in radial play reducing direction.
