The extension unit for moving a kitchen appliance from a storage position inside a cupboard into a work position, has a fixed part (12) which can be fastened inside the cupboard and a movable part (13) which is held on the fixed part so that it can be drawn out from its storage position beneath the worktop (18) raised up over the worktop and then moved back into its work position above the work top. The front of the movable part (12) has an angled holder (15) for the appliance (17). When the latter is in the work position, this fits closely round the front ara of the worktop so that the cupboard doors are not obstructed. This holder (15) is preferably a horizontal relatively thin but rigid U-shaped shet metal section which has an upright fastening plate (52) on one part for attachment to the frame.
