In the mfr. of fancy yarns, for decorative fabrics and curtainings, conventional fibre materials are woven or knitted into ribbons, with soluble fibres to support the wefts, at least at the edges, in the form of warps. After the ribbons have been woven, the soluble fibre warps are washed out of the fabric. The process allows a ribbon for the development of fancy yarns to be produced by a knitter as well as a loom.
