IC engine with dry lubrication system - has oil to pistons cooled to make dry lubrication possible

The engine has a cylinder block (1) with several cylinders in which pistons (4) reciprocate. A piston rod (5) from each piston runs to a spherical head (52) which seats in a recess in a swashplate (6). The swashplate is mounted on the output shaft (11). A hollow tube (28) attached to the underside of each piston surrounds the piston rod (5). The hollow tube (28) is sealed (30) to the bottom plate (31) of the cylinder. Oil from the drive housing (3) circulates through the hollow tube and a bore in the piston rod to cool the piston. The side of the piston or the side of the cylinder has a coating of graphite, molybdenum disulphide or ptfe to give dry lubrication. This reduces contamination of the exhaust and wear on the cylinders.
