Kitchen extractor hood for recirculating or removing waste air - has one double-section waste pipe for attachment to relevant exhaust outlets

The exhaust air pipe (1) for the kitchen extractor hood comprises two sections (2, 3). One (2) has a full size air flow cross section whilst the other (3) has a substantially smaller air flow cross section. The two air currents from the two sections (2, 3) are combined outside the waste air box inside the first section. The first pipe (1) preferably has a full width outlet which can be connected to either the recirculating or exhaust opening (16, 17) of the waste air box (15) and a narrower diversion channel (3) which can be connected up to either the exhaust or recirculating opening (16, 17) of the box accordingly. This means that the same waste air pipe can be used for either recirculating or removing the air as required. The overall efficiency is improved since the increased air speed of the additional air flow through the diversion channel allows a lower speed fan and a smaller motor to be used.
