Parking meter for alternative tariffs - has automatic change of scale visible to user with change of tariff e.g. for day or night use

The prepayment timing device, esp. a parking meter, is designed for two different tariffs, such as day and night tariffs, with a scale indicating clearly the price to be paid at any time for a specific period of use. A pointer is deflected on insertion of the coin to indicate the period prepaid, and the pointer gradually returns to zero over the period. The scale (2) has at least one fixed section (3) and at least one movable section (4) which can be moved to cover the fixed section, so that the scale visible to the user is always that appropriate to the time of day or other conditions governing alternative tariffs.
